Unlike most home studio environments, Source Sound is a stand alone structure (not a
converted garage) with double wall construction for sound proofing. The high ten foot
plus ceiling combined with intentional uneven, fragmented surfaces contribute to create
an open acoustic sound. Additionally, the look and feel of the studio provides a creative
and relaxed work environment.
All room corners are treated with 8-16 inches of rigid fiberglass and insulation, giving the
room controlled and smooth low end accuracy. Three 8 x 4 foot, six inch thick "clouds"
are suspended from the ceiling to help reduce unwanted standing waves as well as
Aurelex treatment for the walls. Our isolation booth is very effective for tracking vocals,
acoustic guitars or electric guitar amplifiers with excessive db output.
Our approach to quality tracking relies on the basics; controlled acoustics, quality
microphones, microphone placement, signal transfer through hand made 22 gauge
double shielded cables, signal direct to high end pre amplification followed by signal
straight to tape.
Our gear consists of the Avalon AD 2022 preamp combined with Presonus and Focusrite,
Drawmer and DBX compressors, extremely accurate JBLl LSR 28p series monitors, KSM
27s, Senheiser MD 421s, EV ?, Sure SM 57s and 58s, Ashley dual 31 eq, TC Electronics,
two Fostex VF 16 recorders, Senheiser headphones with Raine headphone amplifier and
Reaper software for digital editing. If you require additional instrumentation, we can
offer a quality Ludwig drum set, Simmons triggered kit through two DM Pro modules,
Fender Precision bass guitar, Gibson Les Paul, Mesa Boogie Mark IV with Mesa Boogie
2x12 cabinet, Korg M1 keyboard, LP bongos and congas and an assortment of
percussion tools.
Additionally, we can provide top quality session musicians for your project from Rock to
Jazz, Latin/Cumbia, R&B to world sounds. Ron has worked with many of the very best
musicians in the southwest region.
